Covid Guidelines for Worship

Worship in the Sanctuary and Kid's Church

Revised 1/14/22

Procedures for Worship in the Sanctuary

  •  SIGN-IN - No sign-in required.  Visitors to the sanctuary are asked to fill out a blue welcome card with their contact information and to place in the offering plate before leaving the building

  •  TRAVEL – all who have travelled by: 1) airplane, 2) buses/trains to Vermont should refrain from attending worship in the sanctuary for 10 days, unless she/he/they has received a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the service.

  • SANCTUARY CAPACITY is 75.  Overflow will be offered by video in the vestry fellowship hall with an increased capacity of 40.  Livestreaming will continue to be available by YouTube and Zoom.

  • UNVACCINATED – all are encouraged to be vaccinated in consultation with their healthcare professionals; recently vaccinated people are discouraged from attending worship until two weeks after receiving their 2nd shot MRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) or 1st shot for J&J, unless she/he/they has received a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the service.

  • NEW MASKING – all are required to wear a mask in the sanctuary, regardless of vaccination status.

• Due to the prevalence of Omicron, our church's Reopening Task Force recommends wearing N95, KN95 or KF94 masks or wearing a surgical mask over a cloth mask.  We are working to secure a supply of masks (both child and adult sizes) for any who request them on Sunday mornings.

• Read more about mask types HERE and how to wear masks properly HERE

Testing info: 1) Overview of testing types and access HERE, 2) NEW VT state guidelines when you test positive HERE

• ProjectN95 “is the National Clearinghouse for personal protective equipment and COVID-19 tests. We protect communities and the people who live and work in them by providing equitable access to the resources they need to stay safe through the COVID-19 pandemic.  Lots of good info HERE

• Lastly, if you, your family and/or a neighbor are in need of information, masks, tests or resources, please contact Pastor Kevin anytime.  He and our church will do whatever we can to support your safety.

  • TESTING – If you are experiencing any symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, you are strongly encouraged to be tested and not attend worship in the sanctuary until you test negative

  • SPACING – worshipers will be asked to space themselves from those not in the same household

  • VENTILATION - efforts are being made to increase ventilation and air flow in the sanctuary.  HEPA filters have been added in our sanctuary and vestry to enhance safety for all

  • ONLINE WORSHIP – livestreaming by Zoom and YouTube Live will continue as it has in the past and services on YouTube are always available

  • OFFERING – offering plates will not be passed but will be available at the front and back of the sanctuary for all who choose to use them

  • HOLY COMMUNION – we will celebrate Holy Communion (1st Sunday of the month) in a way that is similar to our outdoor Communion services.  Elements will be distributed as worshipers arrive but you may choose to bring your own

  • FELLOWSHIP TIME – is cancelled for the winter

Kid's Church
Sunday School children will meet outdoors, without masks, starting right at 10 am to reduce the number of unvaccinated people in the sanctuary.  In case of inclement weather, they will meet in the well-ventilated vestry, with HEPA filters in every room, while wearing masks.  Holy Communion will be brought to them by our Deacons and Hadley will be the officiant.

Extending Grace to One Another
As we continue to transition back to worship and programs in our buildings, we invite all to meet one another with grace, forgiveness, and good communication.  We invite us also to give one another permission to set boundaries, observe safety protocols, and distance in a way that is comfortable for each.  As Paul wrote to the Colossians: “Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others, not put them down, not cut them out.”

Cabinet will continue to monitor and discuss.

As always, please contact us with questions, encouragement and/or suggestions.
