CCC Constitution and Bylaws Available for Review

In March 2017, significant revisions to the church Constitution and Bylaws (CaB) were adopted at Annual Meeting.  The CaB, a living document that reflects our core values and equips us for vital ministry, needs to be revised again.  To that end, over the past year the CaB have undergone a series of revisions and reviews by Church Cabinet members and it’s now time for the congregation as a whole to review, ask questions and suggest further edits.  The review period will run now through July 8th.  After that, Cabinet will convene a special congregational meeting after worship one Sunday this Summer to formally approve.  We request your participation in this important process.

The Deacons work with the Pastors to enhance and support the spiritual life of the church, assist with communion, and care for and pray for those in need.

We work with the Pastors to ensure that our worship services enhance the spiritual life of our community.

In order to care for our community, the Deacons work to ensure that people’s physical and spiritual needs are being met.  Two of the ways we do that are through our Circle of Care and our Circle of Prayer.

The Circle of Care provides provides support such as calls and letters, transportation to appointments, and meal trains.  The Circle of Prayer provides an opportunity for people to pray for one another as a way to care for each other and to deepen our connection with God.

The Facilities Ministry is charged with being good Christian stewards of all church buildings and grounds, including maintenance and improvement. The committee is made up of two teams:

  • the Beautification Team oversees caring for the grounds of the church property, seasonal decorations, and gardens.

  • the Buildings Team oversees church maintenance and facility restorations and upgrades.

As part of being good stewards of our planet, this team was involved in the initiative to transition our facilities to solar power and to participate in the “Ahead of the Storm” watershed protection initiative.  More information on those initiatives can be found on our Caring for the Planet page.

More information about our facilities, including details on renting our spaces, can be found on our Facilities and Rentals page.

More information about the ways we have enhanced accessibility in our facilities while maintaining their historical details, can be found on our Accessibility page.

The Trustees are charged with being good Christian stewards of all aspects of church finances. With the Pastors and other ministry teams, the Trustees ensure that the church’s financial life aligns with its mission.

The Trustees are responsible for developing the church’s budget each year and provide updates at monthly Church Cabinet meetings. The Narrative Budget (distributed as part of our Stewardship campaign) and Annual Report provide details on the Trustees Ministry’s work.

Our Welcome and Outreach Ministry provides fun and engaging opportunities for us to get to know one another better, welcome newcomers, and engage with the wider community.

This ministry coordinates Fellowship Time after our weekly worship service.  Partnering with the Charlotte Library, W&O also hosts a Soup Supper Speaker Series in the winter, with speakers on a wide variety of topics.
