Bridge Director of Music Ministry


Commitment and Hours 

  • This is a “bridge” position until our settled music director is found. The “bridge” will be needed from the last week of August through approximately Jan. 2022, or until a settled music director has been found

  • Includes Sunday and Wednesday rehearsals with negotiable Sundays and Wednesdays off as necessary.   

  • One rehearsal on Wednesdays from 7 pm to approximately 8:15 pm with choir.

  • Sunday rehearsal from ~9-9:30 am with the choir.  

  • Choosing music and providing copies for the choir members.

  • Materials and sheet music to be ready prior to rehearsal.

  • Directing the choir and accompanying them

  • Providing music for the service, such as accompaniment for hymns, prelude, postlude, and other music sung during the service. 

  • Generally, the choir performs the Meditation and the Anthem for the Sundays when the choir is present. 

  • The rehearsal/performance schedule will be set up in conversation with the Pastoral Staff and the Music Committee as far in advance as possible.

  • Additional worship services and related choir rehearsals for holidays, plus any other special services that may be scheduled will be compensated.  

  • Opportunities may arise to play for funerals and weddings; payment would be arranged with you independently with the individuals involved.

  • Related practice time, committee and other meetings with church staff, timely and responsive email and other communication with the choir and church staff, preparation and planning time for choral music, rehearsals and instrumental music, arrangements and rehearsals with guest musicians, purchase of sacred organ and piano music, and professional development as needed and appropriate.

  • During weeks off, Bridge Music Director will be asked to recommend musical accompanists/performers to fill in.

Hours Summary

  • 1.5 hours/week weekday choral practice

  • 2 hours/week on Sunday mornings

  • special/occasional services (4-5/year) 

  • with related practice and administration time



Salaried position dependent upon qualifications.

  • Funerals/Weddings (upon agreement with family)


Reports to

Senior Pastor, and works cooperatively with Senior and Associate Pastors and Music Ministry.    


Termination of Employment

Employment can be terminated by either Charlotte Congregational Church or the Bridge Music Director with a minimum of two weeks notice.  Employment is “at will.”


Background Check

In accordance with the Safe Church Policy of Charlotte Congregational Church you will be required to participate in a background check (paid for by the church).  Your final offer of employment will be contingent on the results of that check.

Bookkeeper Job Description



The Bookkeeper at Charlotte Congregational Church (CCC) will report to the Trustees and work cooperatively with all the various church Committees.  The Bookkeeper’s primary responsibilities will be to: 1) maintain all financial records of CCC, 2) manage cash disbursements, income recording, and payroll, 3) record and reconcile investment and bank activity and 4) timely financial reporting to the Trustees, Cabinet and congregation.



  • Year-round position with hours ranging from 15 to 20 per week  

  • Vacation of two weeks annually

  • Maintain a currency in bookkeeping standards and the software used in the accounting. Currently using PowerChurch

  • Have an understanding of State and Federal tax regulations as it retains to a nonprofit church

  • Implement donors’ directions on all designated funds both long term (endowment) and short term

  • Ability to attend monthly evening Cabinet meeting

  • Flexibility in work schedule to allow for training, end of year financial reports, and preparation for spring annual meeting

  • Regularly communicate with Trustees and Treasurer with financial issues/questions



Cash Receipts:

  • Update contributors’ names and addresses for each receipt

  • Record pledges, and record payments for various funds that include pledges, loose plate, special collections, rents, designated donations, etc.​

Cash Disbursements:

  • Maintain vendor files

  • Write accounts payable & special collections checks for treasurer

  • Prepare & file 1099-NECs


  • Maintain employee records, including wage computations per budget

  • Write payroll checks for treasurer

  • Make federal and state tax payments

  • Prepare and file state and federal reports

General Journal:    

  • Prepare and enter standard and adjusting journal entries


  • Cash accounts (two checking; Paypal) – monthly

  • Investment accounts – monthly

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare financial statements monthly and annually

  • Prepare other reports as required (budgets, donations, yearbook data, etc.)

  • Prepare annual statements to donors and quarterly pledge progress reports for pledgers


  • Maintain account system design of funds and accounts

  • Software -Understand design, interactions, etc.

  • Preserve audit trail with back-ups and paper trail

  • Cash flow management (ongoing & large projects); prioritize payments as needed

  • Other support as requested (solar net metering management; annual budget preparation assistance; etc.) 




The Bookkeeper will:


  • Preferably have academic credentials in accounting

  • Have at minimum bookkeeping certification or relevant experience

  • Ability to maintain a confidentiality of all donations and pledges

  • Work collegially with volunteers and ministry teams.

  • Be organized and have the ability to maintain clear records
