Lenten Silent Retreat

Friday night, March 13 – Sunday morning, March 15

St. Anne’s Shrine, Isle La Motte

Please join others from the church community at the height of your Lenten journey for a silent retreat on Isle La Motte.  We will gather for dinner on Friday night and then enter into silence until breakfast on Sunday morning.  During the retreat we will practice our Centering Prayer together as well as have intermittent times of worship at morning, midday, and evening.  In between we will be holding silence where you are invited into a deep rest for your soul and an attentiveness to the Spirit (reading, writing, walking, etc… is ok too!).  On Saturday night there will be an Even Song time with guest musician Dominique Dodge who will offer a harp meditation to close the day.

The cost of the retreat is only $85/person thanks to a generous donation from a former church member. The cost includes all meals and two nights at St. Anne’s Shrine in double occupancy rooms.

Please contact Rev. Burhans (iwillb@gmavt.net) or Kate Maynard (maynard703@comcast.net) if you’d like to sign up or simply learn more about the retreat.  If you have not been initiated into the Centering Prayer practice this would be a wonderful time to do so and we are happy to share the simple method.

About St. Anne's Shrine

Saint Anne's Shrine is a peaceful, spiritual, and historical attraction, which has been developed and maintained for the past 100 years by the Society of Saint Edmund in Vermont's scenic Champlain Islands. Each season, thousands of religious pilgrims, vacationers and tourists visit the popular waterfront site in Isle La Motte for devotion and recreation.

The Shrine is situated on thirteen acres, touching the shores of Lake Champlain, and overlooking the Adirondack Mountains. Visitors can reflect among the pine trees in the Way of the Cross. Many rustic grottos, dedicated to the Saints, dot the grounds providing areas for peace and prayer.

An all purpose building is open daily to visitors providing space in inclement weather. Picnic facilities are plentiful for families and groups of all types. Our café is open Sundays in July and August for a delicious and bountiful Breakfast Buffet. Meals are available for organizations and groups by reservation while beverages, snacks and ice cream are served daily. The Gift Shop is open daily (seasonal) for visitors wishing to purchase books, religious articles, souvenirs and Vermont gifts.
